Endocrine System
What we still need to do: My group and I still need to put in a motor which controls the pace at which the water flows. We also need to put the clear pipes at the right angle so the same amount of water goes in the bladder and the body once it separates at the clear T tube at the top. In addition, we need to rehearse and practice our presentation so we are prepared at the exhibition night. Project Reflection: For this project we were given a system in the body and had to make a representation of it. Our project had to perform two functions. We had some difficulties, but were able to overcome them. In the beginning we did not have a good understanding of out system so we had a difficult time building, but after researching more, we were able to build a functioning project. Some problems we had were that we had a hard time positioning the clear tubing so that the water would flow in all directions (look at the picture above). We also had a difficult time making the tubing stay in the pump so water could not squirt out. During the presentations we were able to answer the questions that were asked and our model worked very well. The audience seemed too really liked it and thought the part where we released the "pee" from the bladder was funny. This project was a lot of work, but in the end we were happy with our results. We were all able to pitch in and work together. Grand Rounds Group Claim Evidence Reasoning Nervous Hypercortisolism
Respiratory Type 1 Diabetes
-Type one diabetes is passed on through genetics and they were born with it. - They are constantly tired for they cannot break down glucose because they are not producing insulin. Glucose is the body's form of energy, and if you cannot get it into your bodies cells you will be fatigued. Immune Growth Hormone Deficiency
Skeletal Turner Syndrome
Integumentary Acromegaly
Circulatory Graves’s Disease
- Since the bodies immune system is attacking the body's organs, they have chest pain, and also difficulty breathing Digestive Osteoporosis
My patient has a Growth Hormone Deficiency. You need to have enough growth hormone in order to grow. Growth Hormone Deficiency is when your growth and cell production is stimulated. My patients symptoms were depression, joint pain, short, muscle ache, dry skin, obesity, and bad memory. The Deficiency occurs because a person's pituitary gland does not produce enough growth hormone. You may be short because you have a low bone density and muscle strength. When your pituitary doesn’t produce enough growth hormone, growth can slow. Most of the time, the cause of the growth hormone deficiency is unknown. This evidence has led me to the conclusion that my patient has Growth Hormone Deficiency. Reflection: For this project we were put into groups and were given a disease. We had to research the disease and write down its symptoms. We were then put into other groups and played the role of doctors diagnosing their patient. I had to be a doctor, then later a patient. The next few days we had to diagnose the patients by researching the symptoms. We wrote a claim, evidence, and reasoning sheet. We also wrote a clear paragraph on the disease our patient had. I learned more about each disease and how closely connected everything is. |
